Aren't these films satirical? I don't think I've ever seen either one all the way through, but I remember getting the impression from what I did see that they weren't meant to be taken straight.

I think they're just (bad) comedies, like most Adam Sandler films.

I hate Adam Sandler as much as the next guy, but Happy Gilmore is a good movie.

My kindred spirit! I hate just about everything he does but I really liked Happy Gilmore and think Shooter got everything he deserved because he was a dick. I've never seen Billy Madison, however.

I also like The Wedding Singer because it's very 80s and has Drew Barrymore. I tried watching 50 First Dates, however, and couldn't tolerate 10 minutes of it.

And Adam Sandler needs to go die in a hole somewhere. His movies stink (even Punch Drunk Love.)
