Thank you for explaining why I never found BBT funny, and why most people I know IRL who find it funny are not geeks but part of the "cool crowd". And some think I would totally dig the show because it has geeks in it.

Uh, no.
For one, just because I have geeky hobbies doesn't mean I want to watch everything related to the topic, especially when it's so artificially done.
For two, if I needed representation, I'd look for positive one... Not yet another one that is full of clichés.
