Rec me a fic you've read recently and tell me why you chose it.

^^

Tough choice for me because I've read some good fic over the last week or so. I mentioned 'The Five Kingdoms' by winterhill (http://archiveofourown.org/works/245092/chapters/377939) last week, but it still wins out, I think. Mostly because I'm all over Gwaine being in madly in love with Merlin and looking on him with reverence and Merlin being seemingly oblivious of... well everything- his true powers, Gwaine's love (and jealously of Arthur). Also, there a lot of cool fantasy and magic goings on that I enjoyed.

All Is Lost Again (But I'm Not Giving In) http://archiveofourown.org/works/618138/chapters/1115257 Teen Wolf (Stiles/Derek) The nightmares aren't real. They can't possibly be real. But people keep dying and Stiles is genuinely losing his mind. And he can't seem to open his mouth and just tell someone.

Oh shit, the why! Because it was the best fic I have read recently that isn't just sex, sex, sex or sort of cliche fluff.

The Problem With Purity https://www.fanfiction.net/s/4776976/1/The-Problem-with-Purity

Harry Potter (Harry/Draco, Hermoine/Snape)

I'm only up to chapter 18 (of some 60!) but I'm really enjoying it so far considering I'm not usually a fan of either pairing. It's all from Hermoine's POV too!

Far and away the best HP fic I've ever read (and a oneshot, so you don't need to set aside time for an archive binge!): https://www.fanfiction.net/s/3441406/1/

It's Hermione/Snape, but don't let that put you off. I usually can't even read that pairing because it's just so ridiculous, but this piece is incredibly well-executed. I should warn you that the sex scenes comprise about half the fic, but knowing the general population of fandom, I'm sure some of you won't mind.

I've been re-reading a lot of stuff I favorited on ff.net years ago and...well. Some of still stands, but some is pretty bad.

Anyways, I'll rec The Geek's Guide to World Domination ( https://www.fanfiction.net/s/3755396/1/The-Geek-s-Guide-to-World-Domination ). It's one from a series of SG:A fics that are McShep. They're well written, and tend more towards comedy than anything else [and not in the hilariously bad way]. I will note that this isn't the first in the series [but it can be read out of order and still make sense.]

This one in particular there's an Ancient toy that...basically ends up causing Dr. Zelenka to go bad as an attempt to raise his self esteem. But it's better than it sounds!

I've been waiting up all night (http://archiveofourown.org/works/445949) Parks and Recreation, April/Andy/Ben

Aliens may or may not be invading Pawnee and April and Andy have taken to sleeping in Ben's bed.

Because somehow an alien invasion story involving threesomes is both the most well-written and most in-character fic in the entire fandom. It's brilliant, read it.
