If fiction is not removed from reality, then every horror writer should be thrown in jail.

Saying fiction is not removed from reality is NOT saying THEY ARE LITERALLY THE SAME THING. I am saying they are CONNECTED and pretending there is NO correlation EVER is unrealistic. Obviously not every fictional thing is LITERAL in real-life, but joking about raping some one is still joking about raping some one. Because the base of it is YOU THINK RAPE IS FUNNY. It's not. If a writer writes about rape or abuse or murder and treats it like a complete hilarious joke, yeah, I'd worry about their REAL views. If they write about rape or abuse or murder and treat it seriously, that's fine. It's removed enough that IT'S FINE. It's all in HOW you do it. Martin made a joke about how funny it is to rape. The context of it doesn't magically make it okay... the base of it, is that he thinks raping is funny, and that DOES translate.

Writers of Friday the Thirteenth, and those types of movies, are not taking it seriously. So, to be clear, you worry about them?

things that aren't funny in real life can be funny in fiction, because it's fiction and no one is actually being hurt.

it's really amazing how many people can't seem to comprehend that fiction and reality are not the same thing.

THIS THIS THIS.

I laughed my ass off when half the people in Scary Movie # died but I sure as hell wouldn't find it funny IRL.

Hell, I even laughed at a rape scene once. I forget the name of the movie (it was in Spanish, I do remember that) but it was a comedy and the scene was freaking hilarious. The guy was trying to rape this woman and she pretended to enjoy it and he got freaked out and ran away. I still crack up thinking about it.

I certainly don't go out raping people, though, OR condoning rape. I don't victim blame, either. Like, ffs FS.

That sound very much like an Almodovar movie.

You ever see a film called (I think) Jack Frost, about a killer snowman?

If you're reaction to the scene where the snowman stops his killing spree to rape shanon elizabeth is not to immediately burst out laughing, I have the deepest sympathy for you.
