The message here is that believing homosexuality is a sin is wrong but hating Christians is A-OK.

Who's saying that? I have nothing but respect and admiration for Christians. I don't respect bigotry. There's nothing complicated in that. You just have to remember that believing homosexuality is a sin is not an integral or definitive part of Christianity.

Seriously, this is such a ridiculous line to take, and it plays into so many poisonous culture war lines of thought - it just makes me scream.

"Bigots," not "Christians." Contrary to what you seem to think, there's a difference. Not all branches of Christianity are oppose to homosexuality.

when folks say "I hate bigots" and some one jumps in with "YOU JUST HATE ALL CHRISTIANS" I think it's way more telling than the first statement. but nice try, sweetie.
