On the other side of the spectrum, I don't think idiots who only play Halo or even branch out exclusively to other FPS's are gamers either, so let's throw that assumption about my opinions out the window right now.

In your comparision, I would call that person a fan of teenage comedies. The person may be an avid movie watcher in the literal sense of the word, but certainly to identify himself as an "avid movie watcher" is faulty.

Original meanings of terminology, especially in the incredibly rapidly evolving world of VIDEO GAMES of all things, has no relevancy. Terminology evolves depending on the societal context (which in this case refers to people who play all genres of videogames because they enjoy the gameplay aspects above else), so please don't strawman me.

"Conservative" used to mean pro-isolationist, anti-deficit spending, anti-big government, anti-federal intervention in private lives. By today's standards, however, Herbert Hoover and Barry Goldwater would be liberals. So yeah.
