Oh my gosh a Marvin Redpost secret! So many memories just came flooding back. Heck yeah dude, I agree with all your thoughts right here, and now I totally have to reread these books because they were great. :O

I think about this book all the time.

Secret 11 - Marvin Redpost: Kidnapped at Birth? (book)

[Picture is the cover of the book "Marvin Redpost: Kidnapped at Birth?" by Louis Sachar. It shows the painting of a red-headed boy with pale skin wearing a white-collared blue sweatshirt? and a huge purple, bejeweled crown while standing on a bedroom of someone who has many books and is very into football. He is looking at his crown kind of nervously or displeased.]

When I read this as a kid, I was annoyed by the way he "gave up" just because he didn't have an accent. Even then, I knew accents were nurture, not nature.

I've realized by now that it was just a subconscious excuse to go back to the family that he knew and loved. So that isn't the secret. The secret is that I still wish he would have stayed for the last test and found out for sure.

And because we don't know, a part of me still thinks he really was the prince.

I know, right?!! When I finished the book I got so mad, I just wanted him to take that last test - just for closure.

I didn't think he was the prince and then he didn't take the final test, then I thought, "Well, that's suspicious."

That might have been the point? He didn't care any longer, so the reader shouldn't either? The only thing that matters was that he was happy with what he already had and whatever he might have gained just wasn't worth leaving it behind?
