This was back in the '70's. Harlan Ellison wrote for them, for example, and a lot of other big name, short story SF authors I can't recall at the moment. I'm trying to remember any other author names, and can't at the moment. Maybe Zelazny? I don't know if I read him first in Playboy or in the Science Fiction Magazine.

Pretty sure Sturgeon had at least a couple stories in there. Wouldn't surprise me if Zelazny did.

Don't have any first hand knowledge of that, though.

I'm sure Stephen King had a number of his stories published in Playboy or Penthouse or whatever before he got big. If you read his collection novels, like Skeleton Crew or Everything's Eventual, he usually includes a bit of history about the stories' first publications.

That sounds familiar. I'm also thinking one of the big name women SF authors had some stuff published in PB, but I can't remember which one. Holiday parties and booze make my mind a little too fuzzy for memories of what I read way back when.

You Harlan Ellison sexually assaulted dozens of women and ever raped one.
