I definitely agree. Give me my Durin family angst!

You mentioned loving Gimli and Legolas, there's a scene you'll LOVE in the movie.

Also, speaking of Durin angst: Kili has a small stone his mother gave to him because he tends to fidget, something to remember his promise by - that he'll come back to her. On the stone, in dwarvish, is written "return" or "both, come back".

DURINS! *shakes fist*

Ooo, is it the scene of Legolas finding Gloin's amulet? I read about it in one of the art books - was given it as a birthday present earlier in the year. I'm looking forward to it! (And hopefully there's more references to good old Gimli, but anything is appreciated, really. Hehe.)

Noooo, is the translation mentioned in the film, or was it mentioned in yet another art book or an interview or something? Where ever that is HEARTBREAKING. And completely ironic, lol. Damn you PJ. (Too bad Dis doesn't seem to be in the films?)

Yes, it is exactly that scene!

The translation is not mentioned in the film,I found it here: http://dwarrowscholar.mymiddleearth.com/2013/12/24/kilis-runestone/

It is mentioned, however, that Dis made him promise to come back, because she thinks he's a bit reckless. Also, prepare yourself for unexpected Balin feels, when you bear in mind what happens to him in the Fellowship of the Ring.

Oh Dis... ;_; As if Kili, Fili and Thorin's fates weren't sad enough, they needed to add insult to injury.

Yes! I want unexpected Balin feels! Balin was one of the more fleshed out and likable dwarves in the book, and I was sad we didn't see more of his and Bilbo's friendship. Hopefully there's more of that in this film. (Though I do dig the Bilbo/Thorin stuff, too.)
