Re: Please explain to me why the SJWs DON'T stand for oppression, censorship, and thought-policing.
No one needs to convince you of anything. Do your own digging to see what social justice and awareness has done if you are really interested. But, I think you are more interested in stirring up shit and being annoying.

(Anonymous) 2013-12-29 10:42 pm (UTC)(link)1. Cost people their jobs for things they did on their own time.
b. The above means their families if they have any are at risk.
There have been at least three examples I think of off the top of my head recently.
2. Cost a child his education <--- this is the one that really boggles me DO I NEED TO EXPLAIN why this is bad?
3. Made English-speaking people afraid to use certain English words for fear of being attacked. All over the Internet.
But, I think you are more interested in stirring up shit and being annoying.
Which is a good example of how a SJW (or sorry someone who is "pro-social justice") would attempt to deflect any criticism back onto the person who is speaking up. Whether you are doing this or not I do not know and will not say. But I think it is interesting that you are trying to deflect the conversation on to what YOU think I am doing and thinking. That seems to be a typical tactic for any one person who dares to criticize "social justice."

(Anonymous) 2013-12-29 11:11 pm (UTC)(link)There's been instances where they've found people's contact info and put it up publicly so they have harassed a person for saying some unsavory stuff.
I unfortunately don't have a link on hand, but I see a post where a guy said a racist remark and someone dug up his contact info, posted a picture of his house and its location encouraging people to harass him. He responded with his cell info because he didn't want them him to harass his parents. And one person responded around the lines of harass his parents anyway to show him a lesson.
I heard someone mention here that Laci Green, a youtuber who does sex positive stuff, had a similar experience because she used an offensive term in an older video. I believe she had to move to avoid the harassment.

(Anonymous) 2013-12-29 11:27 pm (UTC)(link)OK I can't find the exact article I read (it was very good and well-balanced) but just search for Justine Sacco. Apparently Google had a countdown tracking her flight, and someone posted a picture of her when she landed at Heathrow. The article I read was by a woman who had interacted with Sacco briefly on a professional basis, it was really well-written, if I find it, I will post it. Here's a roundup of the "reaction shots" someone else posted (take note of #4 on the Tweets listed there):

Here's an editorial that thinks the mob went too far:
http://www.splicetoday.com/digital/was-justine-sacco-the-victim-of-bullying
The kid was a 6-year-old boy who was suspended/expelled(?) from school for kissing a little girl's on the hand after being told not to. Discipline the kid for not respecting boundaries, sure, I get that; the school in question expelled the kid and marked him as a sex offender on his record.
OK, I couldn't find an unbiased link for the first one, but apparently ANOTHER six-year-old has been suspended "for making a gun gesture with his hand."

Here's a good link, though HuffPo isn't exactly unbiased. Looks like the latest news is good for the first kid, however:

(Anonymous) 2013-12-30 12:36 am (UTC)(link)Sorry, here's the #4 tweet from the first link:

I am not on twitter that is just the only way I could get the tweet to show up.

(Anonymous) 2013-12-30 02:47 am (UTC)(link)However, I cannot let that example about the six year old boy slide. It was a recurring thing. He was making unwanted advances toward another human being. His mother was trying to excuse his actions as "boys will be boys" and "of course she wanted it". No. That leads to college aged boys doing things that are worse and trying to excuse it with the same excuses. He needs to learn now that no means no. It isn't a difficult concept, but an important one.
Re: OP
You are not "speaking up" because this thread won't reach anyone pertinent or anyone who cares. This is the very definition of speaking into a void. If I want to discuss climate change, raving to the cashier at Toys R Us about global warming isn't "speaking up," it's just annoying blather.
I'm serious. If you want to complain about SJWs, take it back to Tumblr where it might be more relevant.
