Oh yeah, I think it's pretty natural to prefer one version or another since they're really different! It's just a shame when people get on each other's case for liking the wrong thing, as the OP alluded to. (I don't know how widespread it is, but I've seen it on tumblr, sadly.)

It is natural to do that, but jumping down throats because someone likes one version or the other is ridiculous. I'm not in the fandom and I've still it it. From both sides and it is just mindboggling.
