I don't have an opinion on those other points, but I was really, sincerely, constantly told by 2003 fans that the original was darker, and therefore more mature. That Brotherhood was fruity, happy shonen shit and we all preferred it because we couldn't handle the dark maturity of the original. Seriously, I'm not even close to trying to start a fight here. I don't care what series people prefer- it's all FMA to me. I see them as alternate universes. But that point. The darker and edgier= better? Over and over.
