Stiles is a "spark" apparently- we still have no idea what this means though, and Lydia is a banshee.

To expand on this- Stiles has closed mountain ash protection circles using visualization that might have been magic but has never actually completed a spell.

Also lydia being a banshee means she is a death omen with an amazing scream.

It also means some other things that haven't been examined yet - she's immune to turning into a werewolf, for instance. (And I think she also made Jackson resistant because she'd been sleeping with him for so long? Although I don't know how much of that was the kanima bullshit.)
