I don't know who you have been talking to but you have the wrong idea of agnosticism. Agnostics believe in a supreme being (or beings) but do not subscribe to religion. End of.

No. No, they do not. It's you that has the wrong definition. What you're describing is generally referred to as a deist.

Wrong.

Nope. Agnostic: without knowledge. Asserts that the existence of a God or gods is unknown or unknowable. No comment on belief (or lack thereof).

DA

Yep, this is the definition. And how I defined myself, when I was agnostic. To be fair, a lot of very bad things happened in the religion I grew up in, so that's why I bailed/lost my faith. A "bigger picture" perspective is eventually what led me back to my faith. But I would not have gotten that wider worldview, if I hadn't gone through the agnostic phase that I did. Does that make sense? It's getting late.

Um, no.

I'm agnostic in that I have no idea if a god does or does not exist. I need proof one way or the other to tip the scale into deist or atheist.

But no one knows if a god does or does not exist; you're right that agnosticism is about the knowledge of the existence of a god, but it doesn't say anything about what you personally believe. Plenty of people believe (or don't believe) in a god even though none of them have any of proof one way or the other. There needs to be a word for people who genuinely don't know what they believe, because "agnostic" describes everyone (everyone sane, at least) regardless of what their personal beliefs are.

Dude. I have no beliefs. Fuck off. Agnostic fits me AS I SAID IT DOES. Get off your high horse about beliefs and just accept it. Fuck.
