It's still insulting. You're basically saying "she's pretty even though she's fat!" which is just, yeah. Insulting.

I used to be heavy set before I became a vegan (for moral reasons) and people used to tell me all the time "you're pretty but you'd be even prettier if you were skinny!" One of my ex-friends once told a guy she was trying to set me up with that I was "pretty despite my size", like that was a fucking compliment.

People don't seem to realize that fat =/= ugly and skinny =/= beautiful. I'm just as gorgeous now as I was when I was wearing jeans 7 sizes larger. That everyone felt the need to constantly add "in spite of my/her weight" with every confident was beyond disgusting.

*exhales* Didn't mean to rant but comments like this really upset me.

That woman you're talking about is not beautiful "even though she's fat". She's FAT and she's BEAUTIFUL. She's both and that's it.
