Re: (it's all good)
(Anonymous) 2013-12-31 07:05 pm (UTC)(link)Austin's food scene is...okay. Tbh, Austin is more of an overgrown college town than anything else or that's what it always seemed like for the 6-ish years I lived there. Don't get me wrong - if you want a live music scene, then Austin is the city to go to. It's got what is arguably one of the best live music scenes in the country - and one that's definitely approaching, if not on, the international level. However food-wise, the city you'd want is Houston. A lot of people come to Houston [internationally] for the food scene and you can find just about anything food.
Yeah, Texas tends be very hot during the summer [116 F isn't exactly abnormal], but really nice in the winter since it rarely freezes in the lower parts. But festivals - god, I love the festivals! What kinds do you guys have up there?
/coughs Sorry the tl;dr,btw. The 4 major cities in Texas just tend to be pretty specialized into what they do [more so than normal, anyways] so it's fairly easy to point out which city has the scene someone is looking for. ...Except for roads. Those tend to suck in all of them XD;;Re: (it's all good)
With your info in mind though, I'm going to make sure to check out each respective scene the next time I get a chance to visit Texas. I'm not a huge music buff, so Austin will be more about chilling and walking on sidewalks, but Houston will be the main for FOOD.
