If you use pure, body art quality henna-- not packaged henna hair dyes, and definitely NOT "black henna" which is not henna at all-- the only allergic reaction you could have is if you are allergic to the plant (Lawsonia inermis) itself. Which is why you should patch test. When there is henna on your hair, lawsone bonds with the keratin of the hair shaft. It will last longer than you expect, after the color has considerably faded. As a result, if you attempt to bleach your hair or dye it with other commercial colors, you may not get even results.

But it seems unlikely that allergies to other products would develop as a RESULT of using BAQ henna rather than just on their own; as many commercial hair dyes contain some very strong and sensitizing chemicals, notably para-phenyelenediamine.
