Pick this up for my little sister because she adored Code Geass, and it's seemingly a re-tread by the same people. Watch the first couple episodes all suitable enough, and gift it to her.

Started watching it myself whilst she was rewatching it and the protagonist literally rapes one of the other main characters. Not subtextually but you explicitly see him tear off her clothes and have sex with her against her will.

He proposes afterwards and she says yes.

Wtf Valvrave. I've never heard of this show and I'm rather glad. What a piece of shit message it sends to viewers. What a gross and should be jailed protagonist to have for a show.

havent seen the show but remember hearing that he was posessed when it happened or sonething. not that makes it any less disgusting. ugh, was going to check out this show because of the guy who looks like he could be dio eraclea's twin brother. gonna skip it then.

No she doesn't. I stopped watching because of that episode, but I still followed the fandom to see if the show could redeems itself from that BS. Note to anyone who is curious: it only gets worse from what I've read. Anyway, Saki declines the proposal because she knows he's only doing it out of guilt or something.

Not that it excuses it being written that way, but it's a pretty significant detail you you left out that the character is possessed when he rapes her and it was done to show that the thing possessing him is dangerous. It's not exactly "protag is a rapist and it's okay because he's the protag."

At worst the effect on anons sister is going to be half a decade from now when she thinks "why the hell do I have a kink for dubcon kawaii sci-fi vampires?".

She doesn't say yes, actually. The second season basically totally forgets about it and it never really gets brought up again. It pretty much turns out to be a shitty ploy for cheap drama that never really gets properly explained (they explain why Haruto's getting possessed, but not why he suddenly went for the sex instead of neck-biting). It's kind of a shame actually, because the rest of the series was more or less decent -- nonsensical and with a kinda shoddy ending, but decent.

(NAYRT) I'm kind of relieved to hear that. Dropping it is preferable to what I thought they were aiming for which was something like an excuse for Saki to start hating or being terrified of Haruto and him to angst about losing her for the rest of the show

Anime and Manga usually has these weird skeevy aspects that I just can not get into. I guess it's a cultural thing, but damn it I'm sick of seeing fourteen/fifteen year old girls marry guys in the late twenties/thirties. Even worse when those guys are their damn uncles. Ugh.
