she's not ugly or anything, but I did think she wasn't really ethereal like Galadriel or Arwen were. kinda bland tbh

Yeah, but that standard is almost impossible to live up IRL though. Liv Tyler is gorgeous, but how do you cast Most Beautiful Woman Alive Who Resembles Most Beautiful Women Who Ever Lived?

aren't mirkwood (or w/e) elves who aren't thranduil/legolas supposed to be the least pretty/ethereal/chic/haute? they're like the forever 21 catalog models to elves of galadriel's tier dior runway models.

they're supposed to be less "wise" or powerful than the high elves of the west, but i don't recall any indication that they're supposed to be less physically attractive.

No Elven lady is going to come even close to Galadriel or Arwen looks-wise, and this is canon, so I don't see what the issue is here.

But I don't find her pretty at all. Kinda bland. Not ugly, just meh. I know that's a matter of opinion, but I have trouble personally seeing her as a convincing elf.

I think earthy and rough is exactly the right look for a Silvan captain of the guards, but that's just me. Evangeline Lilly is a pretty woman according to most.
