OP here

Not Orthodox Judaism, neither am I "Orthodox Christian" though that's what my church calls itself now (long story). I feel exactly as you've described above, though, and I completely get that push-pull of wanting to do better, but the spirit is willing, the flesh is weak....

My faith has been a bit lacking in the last couple of months (I've been ill--that's not an excuse), so that's why I made the secret. I wonder if this (my participation here) might not be eating into time that could be spent in a more edifying way, and that might resolve my current issues? IDK. Though I have had some pretty good conversations here, too.

You're right, it can't just be handwaved away, though. Thanks for your support.

(saw your goodnight post, but if you see this later-)
ayrt

I'm glad it helped! I think that /wanting/ to reconsider this time spent is a good start, for sure. And fandom life can conflict with many things - job, family, school, etc., including religion. So I think that you should try to do some thinking with yourself and see what your soul says. Either way, good luck, and be strong! :)
You'll enjoy fandom more anyway if you can do it with a clear conscience.

Wait, I didn't think ROCOR was picketing funerals. Yet.
