Exactly. Trends in any genre are cyclical. It'll all swing around again eventually. In the meantime, maybe OP just needs to dig past the "POPULAR RIGHT NOW!" shelf in the book store? Get some recs from other people who like similar things? Just because something isn't the main go to trope at the moment doesn't mean it's "dead".
