Transcript of Take It To The Comments - Fandom Secrets (warning for talk of rape jokes)
[Picture is the banner of the Dreamwidth community "Fandom Secrets".]
I find it hysterical how many people were totally blasé about Martin Freeman's joke and dismissed it as black humor when everyone was up in arms about the anon troll's dog joke three days prior. Consistency would be nice, guys. Rape is fair game because anything's funny if you can laugh at it, but the second you call dogs garbage animals that eat garbage, you're a despicable person who shouldn't breed and should go kill themselves? Right. Either both are acceptable under the grounds of black humor or neither one is acceptable.
Bonus Secret: I tend toward the side of "anything's funny if you can laugh at it", but even I think Martin's scare quotes were unnecessary and totally inappropriate. And I'm a dog owner who laughed a lot at the dog joke.
