If you're dehydrated, and you pinch up the skin, say, on the back of your hand, and it *stays* up, like a little 'tent', it means you're severely/dangerously dehydrated and need liquids/iv.

I was in the same fix after my surgery a couple years ago. Pinched the skin up on my hand and - yup - stayed up instead of immediately going flat. Not a good thing.
