Re: Changing the gender of a heterosexual character ≠ homophobia.
(Anonymous) 2014-01-04 05:38 am (UTC)(link)I think "homophobic piece of trash" goes beyond just wording it strongly, though.
It's unfortunate that they probably wouldn't have done the story if both characters were dudes (altho I think that's less of a forgone conclusion than you do). That said, I think that's a fact about the media landscape in general; it's only really a critique of the show if it impinges on the show's quality, and to me, it doesn't. And I am quite happy that they've chosen to have female characters on there. I can understand being annoyed but I don't understand calling it a homophobic piece of trash. That's kind of ridiculous, when what the show has actually done is not homophobic.
