They're entitled to their opinion of smut and they should feel free to say "I'm not comfortable with this," or something along with those lines, not as harsh as Quinto, but without the rider it's "in their own best interest" to ignore it. Signing on to be a celebrity doesn't mean signing away your basic humanity or your rights to express your opinions. Honestly, has one person here thought for a second that maybe a celebrity is uncomfortable with smut being shoved at them? It's not like they can always ignore it.

As an artist I have always found it best practice to illustrate my own original characters, and I progress the most that way. It depends on the field. For me it's best to not emulate someone else. It's not about my preferences, it's how I am wired. I'm not in it for commercial art, or to be an artist for someone else's works. It's my own stuff that I promote, so emulating someone else's work is pointless for me. And by doing that =/= turning nose up at those who do doodle fanart, which I am very well aware that they have.
