I don't really subscribe to the idea that a genderswapped character must never do something that the pre-grenderswapped character wouldn't have done. Complete personality transplants are bad or course, but, as we don't live in a perfect world, men and women are socialized differently, face different challenges ect.

Also, it's not like it's a love affair. It's an offscreen one night stand and the biggest effect it has is to piss SHERLOCK off. AND HE WASN'T EVEN INVOLVED.
