Re: Preference for animated or non-animated characters?

Ugh, I understand your pain, I really do. I loved Code Lyoko when I was younger and when I heard that there would be a new series, I was so excited. Learning that it was live-action/cgi hybrid killed all my enthusiasm.

I replied below but I also want to add that the live action has limited the potential for XANA attacks too - the original had some really dark stuff that the reboot is lacking. There are bits of it I like like William's character development, but not enough that stops me missing the animated version.

I understand completely. Part of the appeal of Code Lyoko for was the mix of the 2D/cgi animation and with the life action, it loses its appeal. That and Code Lyoko without those huge foreheads is just alien to me. They were part of the charm too.

Yes I agree! The visuals are hugely nostalgic for me, as are the original voices and music. Makes me wonder if I wouldn't have just been happy with a spin off comic in the original art style or something actually. Eh.

The visual are really nostalgic and it just isn't the same without those character designs for me. Ditto for the music. Code Lyoko had some fantastic music, omg. A comic would have been great. Why did they go for liveaction anyway? As much as I hate to say this, I'd rather have had a fill cgi cartoon rather than the liveaction/cgi hybrid.

I'm not sure why they went for live action actually, though I figure maybe it was them trying to completely update the show? Like the way cartoon network/disney channel shows so many live action things these days, that's what kids like now etc. Though I'm not sure if that's true in France like it seems to be in the US/UK. -shrugs-

That might be it, but I dunno. Maybe it was cheaper or something?
