Homestuck-wise: I don't think Aranea has been evil all along--just a standard-issue Serket. She's hideously misguided and foolish and melodramatic, but not outright evil. I think she really started slipping when she joined the pir8 crew and heard about the Ring of Life. And I don't think she's responsible for Gamzee being a horrible piece of shit, either.

(It seems that "Aranea has been evil and responsible for all of Gamzee's behavior all along" is a popular theory and it just doesn't make much sense to me.)
