I hate the Star Wars prequels because I think they're really bad stories and films.

But I think the people who constantly whinge about how it ~RUINED EVERYTHING~ and spew their hate at every scene and hope the kid who played little!Anakin grew up to be a crack-addicted hooker (seriously, I have heard people say this) are crybaby nerds.

It's so weird. The original Star Wars movies (a) were not some perfect outstanding jewels of filmmaking for all time and (b) were in no way ruined, or even changed, by the prequels (disregarding George's dumbass edits, which are more about George being a dumbass editing his movies than the actual prequels). And it's not like there wasn't already a ton of crappy Star Wars media in the EU. So strange.

Yeah, the prequels didn't really change or retcon much about the original trilogy, so I'm not sure what everyone's so offended about. Maybe because they wanted Anakin Skywalker to be some badass Saruman type dude instead of a whiny kid? IDK.

I just kind of see the prequels as a giant wasted opportunity. They had a chance to add three more reasonably good stories to the Star Wars canon, and instead they added... one movie that was a complete mess, one that was completely forgettable except for an utterly out-of-place romantic montage, and one that was just sort of mediocre.

Mostly, I guess I just wanted to feel something about the fall of Anakin Skywalker other than mild annoyance and disgust at his stupidity.
