Unblock Me has a free (unintrusive ads) version, and it's pretty fun.
WordUp is a Boggle clone, and the same people make Letter Rip, which is also pretty fun. (I miss these - neither of them work on my tablet.)
Trivia games are also pretty good at wasting time.
