Don't look at me I actually kinda was ok with that one, maybe from nostalgia it was one of the first I read.

The Three Gables was worse. Also The Lion's Mane. KILL JELLYFISH FOR JUSTICE.

Isn't the three gables one of the ones, like Wisteria Lodge, that some say might take place during the hiatus and and be either Watson's delusion or a fake Holmes he has set up?

Hee! I've never heard that idea before, but it sure makes more sense than the story being real. ;)

My in-universe headcanon is that Watson unexpectedly and suddenly died right as he was starting to write up the Case-Book, and ACD cobbled together a bunch of stories out of Watson's case notes and half-written fragments and passed them off as originals.

Except he did a purposely shoddy job and would randomly add bits making Holmes overly dickish or both Watson and Holmes bizarrely dumb, because he was sick of Holmes and had a grudge against Watson because he resented the fact that everyone knew him best as "Dr. Watson's Literary Agent" rather than a Serious Writer (who, btw, authored a three-volume saga of romantic fantasy literature that sorta ripped off The Faerie Queene, but posited that it happened in the real world!)

HALP. Stop me someone. I could go on all daaaaayyyyyy...:D
