I don't want to get into it in the thread, but can we have a rule about posts with trigger warnings only getting posted as collapsed comments? Like in a reply if it's early in the post or not posting until cements collapse. Because I actually agree with the person who's upset that the first comment in GC has a TW but isn't collapsed so there's no way not to read the comment.

I apologize and take responsibility for this. I'm sorry I posted it so quickly without thinking about that.

I'm really sorry.

I'm really sorry if I'm making you feel bad and I am also very sorry if I did. I don't want to and it's why I didn't really want to say anything to you in the thread because it's obvious to me you weren't trying to upset anyone. And I totally understand seeing something like you did and wanting to talk about it here and being so focused on that you don't really notice what else is going on. I just wanted to see if we could maybe do something to help avoid something like this happening in the future. I think a lot of the people in the thread don't really understand that the first comment rarely collapses and that not everyone can scroll past text without reading it. So my request is more to avoid some of them purposefully posting stuff like that as a first or even very early comment (which sometimes never collapse, either).

Okay.

Now that I understand that I'll be careful about posting things early on. Thank you for understanding. I have friends who the subject is sensitive with so I udnerstand

Wait what?

I get the no collapsing thing, but what do you mean, people can't scroll past?

I mean, this proposal is fine, but is there some large OCD population on here that must read the first comment?

I think they mean if it's not collapsed, it's sometimes difficult to scroll past without words or phrases catching your eye anyway, and depending on what part of the comment you see, that could be upsetting or triggering.

So why does the person who wants to start a discussion have to wait? Why can't the people who are reading the thread click away and wait for the comments to fill up? I'm not seeing how this is fair.

This stuff is getting out of hand. There are limits as to how far the world can go to protect people. The world shouldn't have to walk on eggshells just because some people can't be bothered to slow down.

I'm not saying I think the person who wants to start a discussion should have to wait, just that that's usually the rationale behind "I can't just scroll past".

But if that's the case for them, they can not watch the monitor while they scroll down :/

Oh okay.

That's good that something to protect people is in the rules now.

Thank you! I'm not that first commentor but I am in there and I hope I wasn't rude. And I know Jaybie wasn't try to upset anyone or anything. I didn't want to dogpile them or anything like that and that was a big part of the reason I posted here.
