What the fuck at those comments. I would presume the brother was in the hospital or otherwise safely under supervision at that point, because a sibling is not a parent or a doctor or a spouse or whatever, they're usually not the main authority who has to provide the majority of care when something like this happens. Especially if they're underage, which is entirely possible.

And furthermore, everybody copes with disaster differently. Maybe for OP it was a choice between taking a break with a movie to get their emotions under control or screaming hysterically at her brother for scaring the hell out of them. Because when someone you love tries (or succeeds at) suicide, anger and resentment can be the foremost feelings, especially at the toll it takes on family and friends. Suicide is generally a very self-centered action, and to say that no one else is allowed to be self-centered but the suicidal person is...pretty fucked up.
