This is an unpopular opinion, but I find BBC Sherlock overrated. People have tried to recommend it to me, and I've politely declined. I tried watching the first episode and it wasn't for me. It reminded me too much of CSI, Castle, and a bunch of other crime shows set in the modern era, just with the perk of using the names Sherlock and Watson. And if I wanted to watch something like that, I'd watch the other ones because it doesn't have that air of pretentiousness. I guess it makes me a stinker for sticking to the original stories or adaptations that keep it in the Victorian Era. :/

We can be friends anon. I'm not keen on modern adaptions at all, they just don't interest me? I'm quite okay with just reading the original works. It's one of those ones where I'm content with what there is and have no interest in the rest.

Is it that unpopular, really? It is definitely not my thing, and hear similar expressions a lot. Most of the people I knew that did watch it rage-quit during season 2, and the ones that still watch it aren't nearly as thrilled with it as they used to be.
