As someone who is suicidal, I think the way people responded to OP is out of line.

Yes, "it's possible" OP is not a good sister, family issues can often be a problem with people who are depressed.

But going to a movie does not make OP a bad person, life does not have to stop completely for these sort of things. Even when I'm really low, I'm realistic enough to know people can't be there for me 24-7.

And watching a movie definitely falls in the lines of something I can understand someone wanting to do after a family member tried to commit suicide. We often seek out entertainment when times are tough, and OP has every right to try to feel a little better.

And hell, as someone who is very depressed a lot, I have a better time with people who take care of their own emotional needs. I don't need someone to sit there and feel sorry for me all the time, it just makes me feel awkward and in many cases has made me feel worse.
