(Anonymous) 2014-01-06 02:57 am (UTC)(link)Keira Knightley - perhaps I can concede that she has very fine eyes (note: I'm doing my best Caroline Bingley impersonation when saying that), but what drove me nuts was her walking to Netherfield with her hair down (ack!), and her walking out to meet Mr Darcy in the fields (ack! ack! ack!), and his stupid non-Jane Austen speech at the end. I seem to recall having some admiration for the sets and costumes, but the rest of the film has faded from my mind.
Although it's much less canon-compliant, I will admit to a fondness for the Laurence Olivier/Greer Garson version, although that's largely due to my fondness for Laurence Olivier. Otherwise, the film has the wrong costumes for the period, changes some pivotal points, etc. etc., and yet - Laurence Olivier. :-)
