and they definitely did. in retrospect, the books read like an unrefined early version of the story in many apects. sure, the books have great moments, too, but the dialogue is simply not as witty, the story is bloated in places where the series just nailed it, being really concise.

yeah I am. sometimes i wonder who the hell edited the books. I mean how can one seriously overlook the word "scarcely" being use like twice per page in the first book, to name a particularily annoying example?
