I wish lamb weren't so damn expensive. ;____; I basically only have it at Passover now.

I normally wouldn't buy lamb, but I got a super-good deal on it -- a friend of a friend is a farmer who does his own butchering, but he only sells the entire lamb. Several of us went in on a couple of lambs to share.

That honestly sounds even better. I bet it's amazingly fresh. Lamb is one of my favorite things.

Is lamb expensive where you live? I'm Australian and lamb is practically our official meat.

Yeah, I don't do my household's grocery shopping, but I would estimate it's at least $8/lb (I'm in Los Angeles). I looked at my local grocery store's website and they don't have any sales (and thus listed prices) on any cut of lamb at all; but regular sale meat items include chicken breast or thighs, pork chops, and beef pot roast for $3/lb, tilapia for $5/lb, and cod for $6/lb. Steaks are around $7/lb, but I think we had just one in all of 2013 and it was during special circumstances.

We haven't eaten a ton of red meat in the last 10 years, but when I was a kid we'd have a nice lamb shoulder or leg (my dad would always joke about "leg of lamb" sounding like "Legolas" and say we were eating elf) at least once a month. And delicious elf it is!
