Re: Horror thread!

I used to read Goosebumps and watch Are You Afraid of the Dark? as a kid. Nowadays, I love short horror stories, which can be found practically anywhere and horror movies that explore the unknown. I gravitate to stories that hint at a purely malevolent or a slowly corrupted deity being behind the scenes of everything. I like stories with creepy religious cults and stories that explore the little things that could be creepy if you looked at it in a different light. I don't mind serial killer stories, but I prefer it if the killer isn't really one that you'd suspect.

That being said, I lap up anything having to do with Silent Hill, especially the first 3 games. The element of an evil god or a god created by our thoughts is fascinating to me. I can't get enough of that lore, which is probably why SH3 is my favorite. I also enjoyed Silent Hill Shattered Memories and Silent Hill: Downpour, and I'm excited about the rumors of Hideo Kojima working on a new SH game.

I like the Resident Evil games and movies as well, but in a fun campy kind of way. I guess movies like Shawn of the Dead or really cheesy zombie movies go into this category of horror that I love but that never scares me.
