Look at all those nonwhite Sami people... Most of them don't have white hair tho, I will give them that. One of them is pretty tan tho.

What the. Me and my family are like that and we're super pale with West Slavic lineage entirely?? does Tumblr realize that white people outside of America and Canada exist?

It's the facial structure of many people in that part of the world. Look at pictures of Mads Mikkelson. SJWs wouldn't say he's POC. Also a good point is that race is a human-made concept and differs from region to region. However, many SJWs seem to be using the U.S. definitions for who is white or "ethnic" and who isn't and are ignorant of those from other parts of the world. A Sami person would probably be seen as white in the U.S. However, SJWs can't seem to wrap their heads around the idea that someone who is light-skinned can be discriminated against, so they have announced that Sami are "POC."

Pretty much, people seem to think that white minorities do not exist, that whites cannot be discriminated against. I remember people calling Lindsay (an Iranian who like most Iranians is ~white-passing~) a racist white cunt for having issues with Islam.

I'm black and I'm honestly kind of bitter that it finally caught on (I first saw it used in journal articles from the early 90s but it's probably been around before then) but it's becoming widely used by other "POCs" so I give up. I think I don't like it because I live in the American south and it's a little too close to "colored" for me. My grandma especially was alarmed when she came across it because she comes from a time when "colored" was thrown around frequently as a hurtful slur

Late but...if it's any consolation where I live [in the south] PoC isn't a term I've ever heard used. If someone is going to refer to someone else's race they'll use "black/hispanic/asian/white/etc". So there are at least parts of the US that don't use the term?

Part of it probably is because the term *is* close to "colored" and...well. Yeah - that does make people edgy. But it could also be because you'd be describing over half the population here if you just said "PoC" too.

Yeah, I don't really hear it irl very often (a few times on my college campus by some of my professors is about it). I mostly just see it online and a couple of times on television, which is where my grandma heard it. I think we were watching some historical program and some expert being interviewed mentioned it and she was a bit taken aback until I explained that it's considered a pc term by a lot of people nowadays. eh, what can you do?

lmfao, I have high cheekbones and almond shaped eyes and I'm white as fuck, no zero non-white direct relatives that I know of. Don't think know that eastern Europeans have that?
