Personally "Wyrm" does not evoke an Asian dragon to me. It's a very European word, and based on the fact that "serpent" (which is what "wyrm" means) and "dragon" are often interchangeable in texts like the Bible and on legends (where dragons are cast as evil), seeing "wyrm" defaults to a traditional European-style quadrupedal dragon.
