For some reason I want to say it is in FotR about when Frodo wakes in Rivendell. For some reason it's associated with the imagery of Frodo being ill, and the RotK scene doesn't fit because that has Sam looking at him from the doorway while Merry and Pippin are bouncing all over him.

I'm sorry I can't be more exact, it's been a little while since I watched the LotR appendices.
