I've never understood this logic.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-09 01:39 am (UTC)(link)reminds me of that episode of south park about using the word faggot. wouldn't be surprised if they were operating on that logic.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-09 01:45 am (UTC)(link)Words change, add new meanings and forget some old ones. When some says 'hysterical', they mean uncontrollably emotional, no 'neurotic condition peculiar to women and thought to be caused by a dysfunction of the uterus', the original meaning of the word.

I've heard from enough people with mental disabilities who are hurt by the use of that word that I don't like it. I think they're the ones who get to choose if it's moved far enough away from the original meaning or not. Obviously you have a different opinion on that.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-09 04:32 pm (UTC)(link)The word "retard" has not changed in the slightest and you just demonstrated that. You are using it to refer to someone as "stupid," which is a common mischaracterization of people who have mental disabilities. You ARE equating the two, and on top of that, you're speaking for the mentally disabled by assuming that it can't possibly be offensive.
Quite frankly, I'm not sure why us SJWs are so stupid for telling you that you should probably be considerate of different people if you want to be considered a kind person to begin with. What's wrong with apologizing when you've made someone feel bad? What's wrong with trying to correct your language so you don't hurt anyone's feelings? What's wrong with trying to correct systems that misrepresent and erase anyone but white cismales?
If you're trying to insult someone by calling them one of the people who gives a shit, then don't be surprised when that someone laughs in your face.
