Finally. My poor little nearly-ten-year-old Nokia is just *not right* anymore, so now i have a (refurbished) Samsung Galaxy. It's charging as we speak. I...am a little nervous about it, since i'm not a big 'tech' person, don't care to have a phone that can link me to NASA or anything.
Hopefully, it'll be fun rather than annoying, though not getting calls and having to dial two or three times to get a call to go out is way *more* annoying.

I didn't care to have a smart phone until I did. Now I'm attached to it like it's an extension of my body.

Heee. I'm excited that i'll be able to put IM on it so i can chat with my BFF when we 'watch' a tv show together (instead of running back to my computer at the ad breaks, heh).

Same here. The only reason I agreed to get it in the first place was for the GPS -- but then I realized I could internet in the car on long trips and now it is My Precious.

Heeeeeee! I can't do that, me, 'cause i get motion sickness at the drop of a hat, so usually i'm the one driving. Or, if riding, trying very hard not to be sick.

Welcome to the modern age! I'm still amused that I can install apps like train trackers. So useful!

Heee. There is one my SO has that i really like. You turn it on and hold it up and it shows you the sky and what stars and planets are where. You can turn around and see the whole sky, where the sun and moon are, all that. Very neat!

I have that one! Except I accidentally changed the settins and it doesn't overlay what the camera sees anymore and IDK how to fix it.

Also today I discovered that I can use Siri to text people (a godsend, I am horrible with touch keyboards) and that I can turn Siri on with my headphones. I don't even need to open the phone to send a text!

Ah! That's a bummer. I can't begin to imagine how to fix that.

I had no idea there was a *remote* on headphones - i don't use 'em - but i was reading some kind of 'life hack' thing and it mentioned it.

It really is, until it gets too complicated, then it's just annoying.

It's on the headphones it came with! I thought it was just a piece of plastic to prevent tangling but my coworker showed me that it's actually volume controls, mouthpiece and a button. If I hold the button down Siri wakes up and I can just tell the air to Text X I'm on my way or Call Mum - and it does it!

/Still delighted over this, drunk texting has gotten so much easier.
