hm i'm not sure if these fall into the realm of what you're looking for but:

snap judgment - short nonfiction stories based around a common theme in each episode--kind of like this american life but with a much larger emphasis on storytelling. high production quality with stories ranging from hilarious to very very moving.

the moth - recorded live stage storytelling. pretty good.

(and i know this is completely off topic but i highly highly recommend radiolab if you're looking for something to listen to. easy to understand, incredibly insightful, and gorgeously produced. :D)
