Shinily Tripping

Moffat tripped along noisily. He was on his way to meet his lover, The Creature from the Black Lagoon, for Valentine's Day. He smiled to see a duck hopping along, carrying a doorbell in its mouth.

Moffat was almost in the butt when he came across a decaying cake, lying alone on a reluctant plate. "That must be a treat from my fantastic bear," he said to himself, and tripped over to it. The cake looked portentous, so he ate it.

It gave him the most aggressive tingling sensation in his nose. "How unusual!" he said and continued tripping to see The Creature from the Black Lagoon.

When The Creature from the Black Lagoon came out to meet him, he took one look and fell over.

"What is it?" Moffat cried perfectly.

"Your nipple! And your foot!" The Creature from the Black Lagoon said. "They're boring! Can't you feel it?"

Moffat felt his nipple and his foot. They were indeed quite boring. "Oh, no!" Moffat said. "I'm a woman!" He, or rather, she started to cry. "It must have been that decaying cake you left for me. Did you know what it would do?"

"I didn't leave you any cake," The Creature from the Black Lagoon said. "I got you a potato. It must have been that bold man who lives nearby. He acts a little dazedly, ever since he licked a bleach jug."

"But how can you ever love me, now that I'm a woman?" Moffat sobbed.

"Well, I never knew how to tell you this," The Creature from the Black Lagoon said awkwardly, "but I actually prefer women. And I think your nipple is really terrible like that."

"Really?" Moffat dried her tears. Moffat kissed The Creature from the Black Lagoon and it was an entirely enigmatic sensation, r&r plzzz need 5 reviews before i update lol!!.

They spent the night having entirely enigmatic sex, until the cake wore off suddenly.

Everything was rather awkward after that.

Or perhaps the writer was not making fun of gay people, but making fun of fangirls that go gaga over man-on-man. I'm one of those fangirls, and just took it as the joke it is, and moved on.

Of course, turning everything in to OMGHOMOPHOBIA is much better to feed your moral superiority needs, and get in to the Outrage Bandwagon.

Not everything is queerbaiting, not everything is homophobic. They were simply (good-naturedly, I think) mocking the rabid fandom shippers.

I know Moffat gets a lot of heat for both Sherlock and Doctor Who, and while I believe he's made a lot of missteps in terms of plot and characterization, I think some of the ridiculous outrage is just that. Ridiculous.

Take it in stride, people, it's supposed to be fun. Not everything is so damn serious or has an evil agenda of misogyny or homophobia.

And that is ... better? Somehow? That they are actively making fun, in-show, of a significant portion of their audience? That they are mocking a reasonable explanation for what happened (and the idea that Sherlock was actually in league with Moriarty is a reasonable one, all things considered, the public hasn't really been given conclusive proof otherwise) solely because it apparently hinges on Sherlock being gay?
