That seems almost like Moffat is kind of mocking fandom.

"seems"?

(Anonymous) 2014-01-11 12:29 am (UTC)(link)
You think?!

(Anonymous) 2014-01-11 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
Oh course he is. And honestly, the Sherlock fandom deserves it. Now if only the supernatural were not such wusses about telling their fandom to back the fuck off.

I can't wait until Sherlock gets a girlfriend too!

...becky rosen tho

"Doesn't seem to matter."

He didn't write that episode.

It was Gatiss and "The Empty Hearse" did feel kind of like a fuck you to the parts of fandom that insist Sherlock/John is or should be canon.

Sure about this? I used to think Johnlock was canonically ambiguous while watching S1 and S2. But TEH was the first episode I took as undoubtedly Johnlock --not explicitly Johnlock, tho.

Now that I've seen the rest of series 3, I think they were trying to discourage some parts of the fandom.

It doesn't matter - I think I'm done with Sherlock for other, non-shipping reasons.

Expect that Gatiss wrote it.

Moffat's the showrunner. The general plots are crafted by him, the final drafts are under his supervision, and anything another writer writes is up to him to either approve, change, or send back to be changed.

And given how buddy-buddy IRL Moffat and Gatiss are, I wouldn't be surprised if they came up with little things like that together, or if Gatiss was like "lol, Stephen's gonna get such a kick out of this" when he wrote it.

Moffat isn't the show runner. He and Gattis are co creators. and Gattis is the one who does the most for the show he is there for most filming. He and Sue Vertue are running the thing.
