It's a girl (Faye) and her mother, talking about Faye's father, who had committed suicide, in front of her, when she was very young. They're kind of angry about it.

Slightly more complicated than that.

1) He didn't know she was there. - Then again, he was in his own backyard, no way to know that one of his kids wouldn't be the first to find the body.

2) There was no obvious trigger for his suicide, he did not appear depressed prior to the suicide and he left no message making an already difficult situation that much harder by depriving them of closure.

Not really, I still can't tell if this is solely a comic or if it really happened to real people somewhere.

Just from some of the responses, I thought it might have been inspired by a real person's suicide. I've never seen or heard of the comic.
