Everyone is upset with him because of the lack of note/message combined with the perceived suddenness of his suicide and the lack of an obvious trigger for his suicide.

Basically, everyone thought everything in his life was great and then he removed himself from their lives in the most permanent way possible and didn't tell anyone why - leaving his whole family to try and figure out why he didn't want to stay with them anymore.

(This was so traumatic that his daughter ended up having a mental breakdown that required hospitalization and affected her ability to form close emotional bonds with men for years after the even. - less relevant because it's not a strictly predictable reaction to his suicide)

Obviously something was very wrong with him and he likely needed help, but he never reached out to his family for help (likely deliberately hid it from his family) nor did he feel the need to explain why he was removing himself from their lives.

I can understand why someone would be very upset by this.

This is gross

What, that someone's actions affect their family, even in the case of suicide?

(Anonymous) 2014-01-11 12:53 am (UTC)(link)
No and you know it.

I said that I could understand someone being upset by this. I didn't say that he was a terrible person.

na

...what? Their comment was actually worded pretty tactfully

(Anonymous) 2014-01-11 03:35 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you.

No, just spot on. And every suicidal person is aware of this too, which is where the element of guilt comes in. They can't help it, and that doesn't make them bad people. But their loved ones also can't help how they feel, and that doesn't make them bad people. It's just a bad situation.
