Anime made him a way bigger deal then he was in the manga.
They make Jean think about Marco more in the anime, whereas in the manga Marco's death inspired Jean to get his shit together and move on. He wasn't crying, 'Marco, Marco' in the manga.

The anime tryed too hard to pander to shippers when the manga does not. I mean, in the last episode all that shit with Eren and Mikasa was actually Armin & Eren moments in the manga :/

I was about to point the same things out. Too much pandering in the anime because the fujoshi made JeanMarco popular.

I disagree. The anime expanded things quite a bit, like character relationships, and I don't think that Jean having a small moment of missing his best friend is pandering to shipping. Hell, it'd be even weirder if he never mentioned Marco again.

Agree with you. I thought the sad Levi bits when his squad died was nicely done in the anime.
